What
NRC Industrial Research Assistance Program (IRAP) provides financial support to qualified small and medium-sized enterprises in Canada to help them undertake technology innovation.

Eligibility
- Canadian SME, incorporated and profit-oriented;
- 500 or fewer full-time equivalent employees;
- have the objective to grow and generate profits through development and commercialization of innovative, technology-driven new or improved products, services, or processes in Canada.

- Contact an IRAP representative (as soon as possible, even if funds are depleted)
- You may be eligible to 8h of business services (use them, helps build the relationship with your IRAP representative)
- You will be asked to submit a two-pager describing your project
- Complete application form (see questions here)
- Advice: routinely reach out to your advisor to keep them updated on your progress
- IRAP<50k : 1 to 3 months to get approved (if they have budgets). Afterwards, you start spending and you start getting monthly income of 80% of salaries spent the prior month.
- IRAP >50k: 3 to 6 months to get approved (if they have budgets). Afterwards, you start spending and you start getting monthly income of 80% of salaries spent the prior month.
