What
Product or process innovation projects are eligible, from the planning stage to the pre-commercialization stage (technological showcase).
Innovation projects must meet all of the following criteria:
- the project must:
- relate to the development of a new product or process or to the significant improvement of an existing product or process,
- demonstrate the degree of innovation required, that is to say that the product or process must have a decisive advantage over existing solutions on the market and in the targeted sector of activity, at the national level or international,
- involve a risk or technological or business uncertainty for the company,
- have required (or will require) research and development efforts;
- when the product or process is intended for sale, the project must demonstrate commercial potential.
The product or process developed by the company may be intended for the company or for sale.
Eligible projects can be carried out by:

a single company;

a business combination;
-
a company or a group of companies, in collaboration with one or more member organizations of QuébecInnove
performing research and development. The project must then be in line with the mission of the organization or organizations that are members of QuébecInnove and in line with the business strategy of the applicant (s).

Eligibility
- For-profit only;
- collective enterprises defined within the meaning of the Social Economy Law.
- Be a Canadian citizen or a Permanent resident (non-residents must have their Quebec Selection Certificate to be able to submit an application);
- Reside on the Island of Montréal;
- Have started a business on the Island of Montréal within the last twelve months or plan to do so in the year following approval of the project;
- Hold at least half of the company's shares (50% or more) or hold them jointly with other entrepreneurs who are also eligible for the grant.
- Confirm that the project does not meet any of the exclusion criteria:
- Non-profit projects
- Projects rejected in the past
- Sexual, religious or political projects
- Projects related to illicit or recreational drugs (projects related to therapeutic drugs are considered)
- Bar or club projects
- Student projects: internships and university projects
- Research and development projects
- Self-employed workers
- Projects whose main value-added activities are outside the territory covered by Montréal inc.
Eligible Expenses

project planning, including
- project set-up activities in Quebec and abroad, detailed market, technical and financial studies as well as analytical studies;

product or process research and development activities
, including:
- the development or improvement of the product or process,
- conception, design, engineering, prototyping,
- testing and validation of the product or process:
- prototype testing,
- pilot production tests,
- consumer test market,
- quantification and verification steps with a view to obtaining certification or approval,
- demonstration in a real operating situation consisting of scaling up or with a view to completing the development or improvement of the product or process;

product or process qualification activities carried out by a specialist
, including:
- technological compliance with standards and regulations,
- technological adaptations and validations in relation to the context of the target markets,
- intellectual property protection activities,
- international development support services,
- developing a marketing plan for the product or process;

the technological showcase
, namely:
- demonstration in a real operating situation to potential customers in order to facilitate the marketing of the product or process requiring development, adaptation and validation of quality, functionalities and behavior.
